<reviewbody>I find it odd that no one has touch this one yet to review. Of the 2/27-3/2 run, I love this monster beast the best. The sound is top-notch as it recorded for the "Live Dead" album, but none of this night was used. Everything is great and very strong. There is not a dull moment here!</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Seriously, could you ask for a better setlist from any year?! It is a virtual "greatest hits" show for the Dead. Where else do you see them play Cryptical >TOO>Cryptical then segue into Dark Star>SS>the 11 then top it off with Alligator>Caution>Feedback, all in the space of one set? Nowhere. Of course, it helps that the Alligator>Caution is one of the best ever played, and that the sound quality is virtually on the level of a studio recording yet still maintaining the atmosphere of a live show. If you don't have this Fillmore West run with this show (even better that 2/27 I think) you don't have a collection.</reviewbody>

I was literaly slack jawed and sweating after disc 3 it's that good.It left me staring into the refrigerator like you do sometimes, not knowing what I'd just heard. The sound is just about studio quality and the playing is lush and layered, glass onions peeling back. GET THIS NOW!!!!!!!!</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Obviously this is perhaps the single most riveting GD show from start to finish, and what a finish. Equally obvious is the sonic upgrade once the master reels became acessible as compared to the alternate cassette sbd that was circulated many years ago. However, some caveats about this: The master reel has the stereo channels reversed for some reason, they are backwards and should be swapped back around the next time this is uploaded. One can hear this in the patches from the cassette sbd, where the left and right is as it should be. Hart on right, Kreutzmann on left, etc. About the patches, the Lovelight and Dark Star patches can be improved, there is some lag there. The Alligator jam is well patched for time flow, but the pitch is off in the beginning, and a slight pitch adjustment where the Alligator patch comes in would fix that. These are things that would make this wonderful show completely complete.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>They pretty much let it all hang out for this show. The setlist is a dream and the sound is full. This is my favorite Eleven. The first time I listened to this Eleven I was lying on my back and got those chills that run up your spine and spread throughout your body. I can think of only one other way to achieve that sensation and since this is a family gathering I will not discuss the other means here.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Belongs right up there with the rest of the legendary shows: Cornell, the Field Trip, Rotterdam '72, Valentines Day '70. The first set comes to a thundering conclusion with a powerful Lovelight. The second set, though, is what this show is all about. Thats It for the Other One>Dark Star>St. Stephen>Eleven is amazing as it is. The Eleven from this show is probably the most poweful I've ever heard. The boys aren't finished after that, though. The Alligator>Caution is an absolute show stopper. Amazing show in an amazing 4 show run. February '69 is right up there with Europe '72 and May '77. A must have.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>an excellent show start to finish, with a tamer Dark Star than others before and after, but excellent versions of all songs played - for me Doin that Rag and King Bee stand out in the first set. I think the highlight that gives this show it's own place in the spotlight compared to the giants that surround it is the Alligator --> Caution sequence. There is a 15 minute jam in there that simply must be heard.

Also, this might be the best Stephen played of the group as Phil is insane.

After the 3/1/69 show I'd probably rate this one even with 3/2/69 which starts stronger while this one finishes stronger...i disagree with those who rave about this Dark Star, it has a little less purpose than the others.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>The first set is the "song" set of the Grateful Dead focusing on cover tunes with the exception of Rag. There is a heartbreaking Morning Dew, a killer King Bee, and an orgasmically fascinating Lovelight.
In the second set we have The Other One going into Dark Star which is very unique. That's It For The Other One is right up there with the other ones of the Fillmore run. While 2/27 is a monster, 3/1 is exploratory, and 3/2 is more garage band, 2/28 serves a different purpose. It kind of knocks you around during the fast parts and then serves to hypnotize you during the transition into Dark Star which is played at a very soulful pace. There are no spacey squonks from Garcia or T.C. on this one. Like I said, the transition is very hypnotizing so you actually kind of feel like you're drifting during Dark Star and I'm willing to bet a million bucks that whoever took LSD that night probably had the trip of his or her life. SS/11/DDHNM are good. I think the best SS is 2/27, 11 is 3/1 and DDHNM is 3/2. Sorry to sound so detailed here. I don't know what to say about the Alligator / Caution jams except that they are ferocious on this one. Although my favorite Grateful Dead song is not on here, I would probably choose this show as the single greatest Grateful Dead show of all time.</reviewbody>
